Two new Limit Alarm Modules from FACTS Engineering accept analog input signals and provide relay alarm outputs. The alarm modules are field configurable for a variety of alarm and control applications. The FC-3RLY2 ($89.00) has two SPDT Form C relays, and the FC-3RLY4 ($95.00) provides four SPST Form A relays. Both are powered by 24VAC/VDC and accept 0-15VDC, 0-30VDC or 0-20mA analog inputs. Multiple A & B or A, B, C & D relay control modes are available for independent or simultaneous relay control, increasing or decreasing modes, and non-latching or latching modes. Trip/Release points are programmed via DIP switches and push button configuration. The units are 35mm DIN rail or side (panel) mounted and operating status is provided by an indicating LED. The modules are UL508 and CE approved and have a one-year warranty.
The EKI-6332GN is a feature rich wireless AP/Client which provides a reliable wireless connectivity for industrial environments. The PoE injector enhances flexibility in deployment of this AP/Client even where the DC power supply is hard to fulfill. As an 802.11n compliant device, EKI-6332GN provides 6 times higher data rates than legacy 802.11g devices. As Solar, wind, and other alternative energy sources become more cost-effective to produce and demand for them grows, the biggest hurdle becomes storing that energy effectively.

SolarReserve in Nevada uses molten salt heated to high temperatures in the heating tower to create steam that can be used to power generators up to ten hours after the sun goes down. This plant is capable of powering 75,000 Nevada homes.
In California, LightSail Energy is experimenting with compressed air by turning on an air pump whenever excess energy is produced. When energy is low, the compressed air is released to drive a generator. Some of the heat is also captured to preserve the energy.
Another company uses excess energy to cool a tank of water into ice, which can then be used to cool nearby buildings during the hottest and most energy intensive part of the day.

Whatever form energy storage for renewable energy takes, it will have to compete with more conventional energy sources for cost and reliability. The NEW HG2G Enhanced Communication HMI, a significant upgrade to their previous 5.7 inch model. The color version of the HG2G Enhanced Communication HMI has a resolution of 65,536 colors via its TFT LCD screen and a brightness of 500 cd/m2. The monochrome model has a resolution of 16 shades and a brightness of 1100 cd/m2. This level of resolution produces a much improved viewing experience, and the increased brightness allows screens to be easily seen even in direct sunlight. IDEC interface relays provide a compact solution for general purpose relay requirements. The RV8 series interface relays are ideal for PLC and other controller output, industrial automation, panel builders, assembly machine applications and other applications that require a high switching capability in a compact space. The RV8 relays can be used as a universal interfaces between the controller and the actuator to switch small and medium size loads.
Installation time is greatly reduced with pre-assembled relays and sockets – with either screw connections or spring clamp terminations. Replacement relays and sockets are also available. The AWK-3191 900 MHz wireless AP/bridge/client is Moxa’s answer to long distance wireless communication for industrial applications. By combining the characteristics of the 33-centimeter band and the proven 802.11 standards, Moxa is able to provide a reliable long distance wireless solution. Unlike traditional point-to-point 900 MHz radios, the AWK-3191 supports both master/slave and AP/client operation modes to enable both point-to-point and point-to-multi-point communication for higher flexibility and lower total cost of ownership.
