If you’re considering managed switches for your application, then most likely your network requires flexibility and features around high-performance, network management, enhanced cybersecurity efforts and network redundancy. Is cybersecurity becoming an increasing concern? As the number of connected devices on the plant floor grows, so does access to the data from those devices. Without the proper secure network devices in place, increases in access to your data can increase your network vulnerability to cyber-threats. The EDS-500E series switches support Moxa’s “Security View”*, which can help you to audit the security settings level of your Moxa switch, and can help you to easily correct misconfigured security settings based on the desired security level. Therefore, the level of cybersecurity implemented in a network is a valid concern. The best way to meet the requirements of your cybersecurity initiative is by selecting managed switches with security features based on IEC-62443 standards made specifically for industrial control systems. How significant are downtime costs?Maintaining high availability is a priority in industrial networks, so preventing every single point of failure is key. Network failures can lead to quality issues, a decrease in production, and possible safety hazards. This is where network redundancy plays a critical role. Traditional redundancy technology can take seconds to recover from a fault; this can impact the recovery of critical segments of your production floor. Moxa offers two different options to help with seamless recovery for mission-critical applications. Moxa’s Turbo Ring technology allows networks to recover within 20ms* with up to 250 nodes. For applications that already have a redundant ring technology, but need to add segments with recovery times in the milliseconds, Moxa’s Turbo Chain offers unlimited redundant network expansion with under 20ms recovery times. Both of these technologies take only seconds to set up and deliver seamless recovery with zero data loss. The EDS-500E series switches can also have their configuration files backed up and saved for fast and easy restoration in the event of misconfiguration or catastrophic events*. *Note: 10G/1G Ethernet recovery time < 50 ms Is your network slowing down?To help future proof your investment in a managed switch, it is important to consider the amount of throughput you will need to access the data from your devices. Not just for today, but also for any future high bandwidth devices like cameras for vision systems. Gigabit uplink ports offer you the bandwidth and high throughput necessary to ensure you have the performance to meet the demands of your growing network needs. Having visibility into your network is key in being able to keep your mission critical networks running smoothly. The EDS-500E series of fully managed switches support many network visualization features: Topology View (network topology), Traffic View (network traffic stats & traffic visualization), & Security View (security auditing & security settings visualization). *These features are supported by the specific Moxa devices and may require MXview and a valid MXview license to fully take advantage of these features. Request a free trial version of MXview below. Contact us or your local Moxa partner for exact pricing and additional information on MXview. Managed Switches

New hazardous location alarm buzzers have been added to the lineup of control and indicating devices. The STAHL YA11 series signal alarms sound an audible warning, alert, or information in the event of equipment malfunctions, safety issues, or when systems are starting up. These alarms provide an omni-directional audible signal, are intended for use in hazardous areas or the harshest environments, and have hazardous area certifications for international use. Available in alternating two-tone, alternating fast tone and continuous tone models, with a maximum volume of 100dB at 1 meter and an aluminum/ABS plastic housing, these buzzers are NEMA 4X, IP66 rated, prewired for easy installation, and can be panel or surface mounted. |
GEFRAN magnetostrictive linear position transducers work just like other linear position sensors, by translating a linear position to an electrical signal. However, they are contactless which provides a longer life because there is no mechanical wear; since they use magnetostrictive technology ,they are also immune to electromagnetic interferences. Transducers are available in stroke lengths from 50 to 500mm, and with an analog output signal of either 0-10VDC or 4-20mA for single output models. Double output models provide either a 0-10VDC and reverse 10-0VDC signal, or a 4-20mA with a 20-4mA reverse signal. The electrical connection is made via a standard DIN connector or M12 connection and all units are IP67 rated. Cursors are sold separately. Gefran magnetostrictive linear position transducers from AutomationDirect have a 3-year warranty. |
A new series of Contrinex M18 photoelectric sensors and a sensor tester expand our selection of discrete sensors. The Contrinex M18 sensors have a short body for easy installation in even the tightest locations. These sensors are available in diffuse with adjustable background suppression, diffuse, retroreflective and through-beam models, and with NPN and PNP logic. The outputs are complementary, allowing them to be used as a light-on or dark-on sensor. Connection options include a 2 meter, 4-wire PVC cable or a 4-pin M12 quick-disconnect. An AutomationDirect sensor tester can test any DC-powered sensor of any brand for proper functionality. This tool can save time before installation or while troubleshooting. The new Contrinex photoelectric sensors and the sensor tester have a two-year warranty. Sensors testers can be found under all discrete sensor categories' Accessories page. |
WON linear bearing guides and rails generate lower friction than comparable sliding bearings. With less friction to overcome, less power is required to move a load, higher speeds can be achieved and greater efficiency is reached. WON linear bearing guides and rails are available in various sizes to meet the needs of any specialized motion project. The H series offers four rows of continuously circulating ball bearings and comes in a flanged or rectangular form factor; the compact M and MB series offer two rows and come in either a rectangular or long rectangular form factor. Rail in lengths up to 1000mm match the series of guides that are selected. All guide/rail systems provide 4-direction equal load sharing in any direction for lower friction and smooth motion. WON linear bearing guides and rails have a 1-year warranty. |

VFD Suite is a free, user-friendly software package that configures these drives, programs the sequence controller and includes other advanced features, such as trending. These new drives have an 18-month warranty. |
New Quabbin data cables are designed with impedances specifically for RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 communication applications in industrial environments. These high-quality, low-capacitance data cables have tinned copper conductors with twisted pairs that help reduce electrical noise sensitivity and are available in one-, two-, three-, or four-pair color-coded versions. The polyethylene conductor insulation provides a very high insulation resistance with a low, stable dielectric constant that results in lower capacitance and excellent propagation velocity for superior signal transmission. Order Quabbin data cables cut to your specified lengths in 1-foot increments with a 25-ft. minimum, starting at $0.22 per foot. |
