Striped MTW wire with color-coded PVC heat and moisture-resistant insulating jackets is available in 500-foot spools and in 18, 16 and 14 AWG sizes. White with blue striped wire is generally used for grounded (current carrying) DC circuit conductors, white with orange stripes is used to indicate grounded (current carrying) AC circuit conductor that remains energized when the main supply circuit is off, and green with or without yellow stripes is used to identify the equipment grounding conductor. The use of yellow with the green is a user preference. Type MTW wire is primarily used in control cabinets and machine tool applications at temperatures from -25°C to 105°C. MTW wire complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and NFPA Standard 79. Voltage rating for all applications is 600 volts. Type MTW wire starts at $35.00 (500 ft. spool).
